Further to the article elsewhere in this blog,
I found another great article in a weekend newspaper lift-out called “Body and Soul” which makes some positive claims about drinking instant coffee.
This was an additional snippet to the above article, and was published in the July 5, 2015 edition and was also written by Dilvin Yasa.
WHAT ABOUT INSTANT COFFEE?
It’s cheap and easy to make, but does instant coffee deliver the health goods?
YES, it turns out it does. A 2012 study published in the journal “Food Chemistry” compared the antioxidant capacity of 13 different brews and found instant coffee was the highest in antioxidants.
Interestingly, the study also found that adding milk reduced the coffee’s antioxidant capacity. And another bonus is that instant coffee also contains small amounts of magnesium and potassium.
A piping hot cup of black coffee never looked so good!
